Josy Dusabe, Director of Clinical Excellence, has been named a Rising Star in the nationwide 2021 McKnight’s Women of Distinction Awards.

WTAE-TV featured Josy in a segment titled, Local Nurse Recognized Nationally for COVID-19 Care, on Feb. 23.

She is one of only 17 women working in senior living or skilled nursing to be honored with this national distinction, and the only woman from Western Pennsylvania. Rising Stars are women who are younger than 40 or have fewer than 15 years in the industry.

“Josy’s leadership and perseverance, particularly in the last 12 months, have directly impacted the quality of clinical care that Vincentian provides to our residents,” said Patty Embree, Vincentian chief operating officer and VP of Innovation. “We are grateful for her tremendous contributions, tireless hours of service, and generosity of spirit that has positively transformed our organization.”

Josy began her career with Vincentian in 2007 as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Vincentian Home. She later became a Registered Nurse, then Nursing Supervisor and was promoted to Director of Nursing at Vincentian de Marillac.

In the spring of 2020, Josy welcomed the opportunity to lead our dedicated COVID-19 isolation units at Vincentian Home. She was instrumental in the formation and coordination of this specialized unit, hiring staff and overseeing daily operations. In September 2020, she accepted the corporate position of Director of Clinical Excellence. By the end of 2020, in addition to her other work, Josy coordinated all Vincentian COVID vaccine clinics throughout all Vincentian Skilled Nursing Facilities so that everyone received their first dose.

Here’s what Jennifer Pruett, Vincentian Home Administrator, wrote in her nomination submission:

“Josy exemplifies a rising star in our field of eldercare. The devotion she shows for our residents and our organization as a whole is obvious when you look at the body of work she has accomplished. Josy’s rapid rise in our Vincentian organization is well deserved, as I saw that firsthand working with her at Vincentian de Marillac. She is a forward thinker and looks at how we can continue to improve best practices for our residents and employees alike. And she is truly a good, kind-hearted person with a beautiful soul to match her beautiful smile!”

Congratulations, Josy. Our Vincentian community is invited to like, comment and share our Facebook and LinkedIn posts about Josy’s recognition.
