Congratulations to the recipients of our spring 2021 Everyday Heroes Awards. These awards are given to employees who go “above and beyond” to serve our residents and children and embody the Core Values of Vincentian’s mission.

Frank DiPerna, Central Supply Coordinator, Vincentian Marian Manor
Not only does Frank take his job of providing supplies to the residents and staff seriously, but he also does his job with smile and a cheery hello. He always has the necessary supplies on hand for residents and makes sure Marian Manor is well stocked with COVID testing supplies, including gowns, gloves, masks, and other items.

Jennifer McKnight, LPN, COVID Unit, Vincentian Home
The word used most often by COVID family members to describe Jennifer is compassionate. She was an advocate for both residents and staff on the COVID Unit. She kept the families informed and she recognized the importance of family visits so she made accommodations for them to happen on weekends and even off hours.

Katie Lawry, Director of Nursing, Vincentian Home Personal Care
Katie worked tirelessly – and often over time – this past year to ensure her staff was supported. Frequently, she stepped in to help with anything that was needed – from hands-on nursing duties to administrative tasks – and she cared for and communicated with the residents and families always with compassion and professionalism.

Kaylynn Petri, Activities, Vincentian Home
Kaylynn always puts the residents and families first, and many family members have expressed gratitude for the care she provides. During COVID, she coordinated all the 8X8 virtual calls and family visits, constantly sought ways to keep the residents involved, and provided innovated suggestions to keep residents safe during the various activities.

Trista Salvatore, Nursing Aide, Vincentian de Marillac
There are many examples of the ways Trista has demonstrated that she is an adaptable team player who always has the residents’ and her coworkers’ interests at heart. She supported the Activity department when new COVID isolation protocols were put in place. When activities were cancelled, she spent her free time with residents to keep them calm and comfortable. She helped with the screenings at the front door to give the managers a much-needed break. And when the unit secretary went on maternity leave for three months, she covered that position, in addition to her own.

Maureen Vojtash, Patient Care Aide, Vincentian Schenley Gardens
“Every day that Maureen is present is a great day,” wrote one of the resident family members in her nomination. Maureen makes the families feel comfortable and confident that their loved ones’ needs are met in a way that is like the resident is part of Maureen’s own family. “It is still very hard for mom to be away from us, but knowing Maureen is here gives her comfort and that makes us [her family] ecstatic.”

“We are very proud of the exceptional work ethic and extraordinary level of dedication and compassion our Everyday Heroes show toward our residents, our families and to our staff,” said Nick Vizzoca, Vincentian President and CEO. “We know this past year has been challenging in many ways, but our Vincentian Heroes rose to the occasion and set a standard of excellence for the rest of us.”

Everyday Heroes awards are presented quarterly. The next recipients will be recognized for the May 1 – June 30, 2021 quarter. Nominations are due by August 15.

Each building has a nomination box where you can find nomination forms and submit nominations. If you don’t see it ask your manager where it is located. Review the Criteria for Nomination, which outlines what an Everyday Hero is.
