Vincentian employees were joined by about 100 friends and family Monday, July 12, for a ribbon-cutting and grand reopening of the new playground at Vincentian Child Discovery Center McCandless.

The new playground features a rubber and synthetic bouncy surface to help the kiddos have fun in a safe environment. Newly renovated fixtures and equipment, including freshly resurfaced swing horses, greeted the children and families on a perfect summer afternoon of fun. The playground even features a road and parking lot for the kid-sized coupe cars.

Joining in the celebration was Sr. Tonya Severin, SCN, a Vincentian board member. She was also there to represent the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth ministry fund, which provided financial support for the project. Foam pool noodles, beach balls, sunglasses, a live musician and island-inspired food from Vincentian’s UnCONVENTional Kitchen put the exclamation point on a perfect summer day.

As a not-for-profit organization, Vincentian is committed to a fiscal philosophy of “Share Everything, Keep Nothing” and pledges to reinvest every dollar of revenue back into our people, places and programs as part of our mission to provide care to Pittsburghers of all ages.

The playground is used by VCDCers of all ages, including our preschool and school-age programs. Employee discounts for VCDC are available. Reach out to your HR Generalist for more information.
