Six months after officially re-opening, the completely renovated Vincentian Child Discovery Center Greentree has earned its full licensing with the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. This means the center has met all of the regulations for operating a high-quality child care center, including:

  • Safety standards for the building and classrooms;
  • Staff requirements for education level;
  • Staff to child ratios;
  • Classroom and playground equipment;
  • Supervision of children;
  • Nutrition and child health;
  • Admissions procedures; and
  • Compliance with nondiscrimination laws.

The rigorous licensing process began when VCDC Greentree re-opened in November with a provisional license to care for young toddlers, older toddlers, and preschoolers. Earlier this month, an infant classroom was opened. Currently, 30 children are enrolled in the center.

If you know someone who may be interested in enrolling in either VCDC location, visit the child care pages on vcs.org for information about the programs offered.

Both VCDC Greentree and McCandless have open positions for teachers and aides. Visit the careers page on vcs.org to learn more.
