June was chosen for Pride Month to commemorate the Stonewall Riots , which happened in New York City in June 1969. As a result, pride events are held in June to recognize the impact LGBTQ people have had in the world. While progress has been made to afford equal rights to all, there is still much more work to do.

Vincentian is taking steps to beyond employment practices and protections, and recognizes that diversity – in thought, style, sexual orientation, gender identity, culture, ethnicity, and experience – makes Vincentian a stronger organization. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and engaging workplace where every individual has a full sense of belonging. This sentiment is woven into our core values and has been the foundation of Vincentian for nearly 100 years.

We’re now moving the conversation forward by training our leaders to be more aware. The Vincentian Learning and Engagement Institute has held several manager training sessions focused on such topics on unconscious bias, inclusion, diversity, harassment and bullying at work. We also hired a Manager of Employee Engagement, Taneshya Williams-Wood, to champion employee engagement, recognition, wellness and other initiatives.

If you would like to learn more or get involved in making Vincentian a better, more inclusive place to work, please reach out to your People Operations and Engagement Specialist to find out about current initiatives and planned activities.

Vincentian takes any form of discrimination or harassment seriously. There are many ways to report such incidents: Contact your supervisor, any member of management, People Operations and Engagement, the Corporate Compliance Officer at 412.548.4027, or the Compliance Hotline at 1.866.435.2201.
