Want to be among the first to try out brand new games designed by CMU grad students? Read on!
Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center (CMU ETC) is looking for people ages 12 to 112 to participate in its Playtest Day on Saturday, April 1 (no fooling!) and have invited Vincentian staff and families to participate. This in-person event will occur at the ETC located at 700 Technology Drive, Pittsburgh PA 15219.
Every academic semester, the ETC hosts a Playtest Day when graduate student teams make their project work available for playtesting by guests. “Playtest” means the use of an experience or game by a guest to see whether it is performing as expected. Participants will get to see ongoing work across a variety of entertainment technology platforms, and will test from 3 to 6 projects during the session. An optional tour of the ETC may also be available.
If you are interested, complete and submit the sign-up sheet at https://www.cmu.edu/etc/cmuplaytesting/become-a-playtester/ for yourself and up to five others no later than March 19, 2023. After submitting the online form you will be emailed to indicate your preference for either the morning (9-11:30am) or afternoon (12:30-3pm) session. For the April 1 event, they have projects for ages 12+, with a large number of projects are hoping for playtesters ages 15 to 18 and 18 to 30. Take advantage of the opportunity to shape future interactive media!
