Stewardship of the earth is one of Vincentian’s core values. Learn what you can do this month to care for the earth.

Every year since 1970, Earth Day has been celebrated on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. Each year, more than 1 billion people in over 190 countries celebrate and observe Earth Day making it the largest secular observance in the world. You can learn more about the inspiring history of Earth Day by visiting www.earthday.org/history.

There is only one planet earth. We are committed to serving those in our community. Therefore, we should be committed to taking care of the environment in which our community lives. This will help ensure a healthier and safer planet for future generations. Here are some additional ways that you can honor earth day and its mission any day:

  • Carpool or ride public transportation to reduce carbon emissions.
  • Pick up litter in around the community.
  • Scatter local wildflower seeds to help attract native bird life, pollinators, and local mammals.
  • Use reusable bags when shopping to reduce plastic waste.
