Do you know your numbers? You should. Here’s why…

A biometric screening is a short health examination that can help to determine the risk level of a person for certain diseases and medical conditions and help to establish a health baseline. When you put your numbers together, you can assess your risk for heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. These illnesses and health conditions can be preventedwith early detection, which is why knowing your numbers is so important. Adapted from Washburn University

Over the next month, an Integrated Health 21 Wellness Specialist will be at various Vincentian locations to perform on site to health screenings. You’ll receive your results immediately and will have an opportunity to review them with a health educator. Your screening results are completely confidential and individual results are not shared with the company.

These screenings measure your blood pressure, cholesterol, triglycerides, and glucose. The screening includes a fingerstick with full lipid/glucose, blood pressure, height, weight, BMI, and waist circumference measurement.

If you plan to have a biometric screening done, fasting for 9 to 12 hours is recommended. If you have diabetes or hypoglycemia, you should contact your physician before fasting. If you are pregnant, you should not fast. Be sure to drink plenty of water before your screening! Black, decaf coffee and unsweetened decaf tea are okay to drink as well. You should take your morning medications as prescribed.

If you would like to attend an onsite biometric screening, please contact your People Operations and Engagement Specialist to register.

If you can’t make the free screening at your location, here are two other ways you can get a free biometric screening:
