New friendships and plants are blossoming at Vincentian Child Discovery Center McCandless, Vincentian Terrace Place and Vincentian Villa.
There are various intergenerational activities planned throughout this summer to help promote friendships through a shared responsibility, like caring for a plant.
Responsibility for caring for the growing seeds will be shared between the childcare students and the residents. The groups recently gathered to start the seeds, and, a week later, to move the growing sprouts into larger pots.
Following a recent lunch together, the childcare students visited residents’ gardens to see examples of what their shared plants will soon become.
Special thanks to Master Gardener and longtime Sisters of Charity of Nazareth employee Bette Nelson for helping to facilitate the program.Â
