The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth (SCN) – Vincentian’s sponsoring congregation – is holding a virtual Nazareth 5K to raise money to support its ministries in India, Nepal, Botswana, Kenya, Belize and the United States. Employees who register for the 5K and log their time will receive 50 Thrive Wellness Points.
The SCN ministries in India and Nepal have a particular need as COVID-19 cases continue to surge in the region. Sisters from SCN are working on the frontlines attending to patients in health care facilities across India. They are administering care to COVID-19 patients in the Kurji Holy Family Hospital, a 300-bed facility they operate with the Medical Mission Sisters in Patna, India. Some of the Sisters have contracted COVID themselves and have lost loved ones.
We have an opportunity to help them by raising money through the Nazareth 5K. Registration is $32.50 and includes a race t-shirt and a special gift from the SCN. Participants can run or walk any time between June 5 – 13. To register, visit scnfamily.org/5K.
In addition to earning 50 Thrive Wellness Points, employees who signed up for the UPMC Homerun for Health Activity Challenge can use the steps to help earn a daily home run.
Please share this information with your family and friends. If we have enough interest among employees, we will plan a walk or run meetup event at Schenley Park, North Park, and/or downtown Pittsburgh.
